Kaieteur Sports – Leguan Warriors and Wakenaam will play a friendly T20 match on Saturday at St. Bedes ground, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.
This game is to mark the first death anniversary of Janet Monasar, a former ardent supporter of softball cricket to Leguan Warriors.
Janet was the mother of popular softball players Naresh Bodo and Andy Monasar and grandmother of Ravi Bodo, another softball cricketer in Ontario.
She died age 76 last January in Canada due to illness.
Leguan Warriors featured in the Ontario Softball Cricket League and Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs’ various tournaments over the years.
According to Naresh Bodo, one of the organizers for the game which is slated to commence at 12:30 pm, things have shaped up nicely for this special softball encounter.
Naresh Bodo mentioned that the family is still saddened with her death but they are excited to run off the one-day event in her memory because she had loved softball cricket very much.
In addition to that, Janet was a cricket fanatic and always there at the ground when Leguan Warriors in action.
Andy Monasar played for Essequibo Senior Inter-county team while Naresh served as Vice-President of the Essequibo Cricket Board before their migration to North America.
Some of the players coming out on Saturday are: Naresh, Andy, Ravi, Chilo Doodnauth, Faoud Mohamed, Abdool ‘Whito’ Azeez, Mohin Khan, Ashtaq Mohamed, Rajin Persaud, Shawn Persaud, Arvindra Ramroop and Bobby Ramlagan among others.
