Parfaite Harmonie man stabs ex-wife to death
Dead, Bibi Hanif
Kaieteur News – A 53-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested for the murder of his ex-wife, which occurred on Tuesday morning at Samaroo Dam, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
Dead is 45-year-old Bibi Shazida Hanif of Lot 1 Samaroo Dam WBD, a cleaner attached to Rapid Oil Field at Halliburton, Garden of Eden, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
It is reported that the incident occurred between 04:44 hrs and 05:25 hrs. The suspect was identified as Martin True of Parfaite Harmonie, WBD.
According to police, ranks, acting on information, conducted a stop-and-search exercise at Number 66 Public Road Corentyne, Berbice, where True was seen seated in the back (rear) seat of a motorcar bearing registration number PZZ 3660, which was driven by 29-year-old Abdul Jameer True, a resident of Parika, (EBE).
True was made aware of the allegation, arrested, cautioned, and escorted to the Springlands Police Station. He will be escorted to the Regional Police Division #3, pending further investigations.
The deceased lived with her 18-year-old son, who is spending time in Berbice with his father.
Hayden Xavier, a 44-year-old Trinidadian and an inspector attached to Hanif’s place of work told police he had known the dead woman for over two years. He said during March of this year, they began an intimate relationship since she had separated from True.

“Xavier further stated that the now deceased woman used to reside with him at Red Road, Providence, East Bank Demerara and about two weeks ago, she left his home and returned to her home at Lot 1 Samaroo Dam, West Bank Demerara, and would visit his home from time to time,” the police relayed.
According to the police, Xavier relayed that the company bus would regularly transport Hanif from Samaroo Dam every morning at 05:00 hrs. and take her to the Providence Public Road, where he would collect her with his motor car and take her to work.
It is alleged that at about 04:44 hrs. Xavier received a call from Hanif requesting he pick her up and he agreed. The 44-year-old man claimed that about twenty minutes later he tried calling Hanif’s phone while he was on the Demerara Harbour Bridge, and True answered and said “I now fix she deh”.
As a result, Xavier made a report at the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station before going to the home.
Police arrived on the scene and saw the victim lying motionless, in a pool of blood, on the floor next to her bed. The body was examined by the police, and two stab wounds were seen on her back.
Hanif was then taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her body is awaiting a post-mortem examination at Ezekiel Funeral Home.
