Hayma Singh, Deputy Events Manager, of the Organisers collects the sponsorship pledge from Kris Jagdeo, CEO of Jagdeo Construction.
Kaieteur Sports – In a significant boost to one of Guyana’s most anticipated sporting and entertainment events, Kris Jagdeo, CEO of Jagdeo Construction has pledged major sponsorship support for the upcoming Guyana Cup & Super Concert. This hallmark event carded for Sunday 17th August, 2025 significantly contributes to attracting elite international jockeys, top-tier thoroughbred horses and thousands of enthusiastic fans from across the Caribbean and beyond.
This year’s event will be elevated to its pinnacle with the Super Concert, blending the thrill of the races with live performances from some of the biggest names in regional and international music.
Horse Racing in Guyana has reached a new level of international recognition, thanks to our historic victory at the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup, the most prestigious horseracing event in the Caribbean and South America. This race, attended by competitors from the U.S., U.K., Dubai, and other top racing nations is one that many strive a lifetime to win. Yet, Guyana entered just one horse, on our first attempt and dominated the field.
This achievement has placed Guyana firmly on the global horseracing stage opening doors for increased investment, international participation and tourism. With this monumental achievement, Guyana Cup 2025 has the potential to be the biggest and most impactful event yet.
Thanks to the drive and commitment of the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sports the horseracing legislation was tabled and passed in Guyana’s Parliament. This will usher in a new era of regulation, investment and credibility, further strengthening Guyana’s racing industry. All of this ties together to boost Sports tourism in Guyana.
Kris Jagdeo, who owns one of the leading stables in Guyana, underscores his passion for promoting local sports and culture but also signals growing private-sector investment in Guyana’s entertainment and sporting landscape.
Guyana Cup have welcomed the partnership, emphasizing that this level of support will enhance the overall experience for both participants and spectators. With increased prize purses, improved facilities, and expanded entertainment, this year’s event is expected to set new standards.
When our news team contacted Mr. Jagdeo, he explained, “We believe in the power of sport to bring people together to inspire greatness. The Guyana Cup is more than just a race, it’s a national celebration. Jagdeo Construction is proud to be part of something that showcases our country’s talent, culture, and community spirit. We have seen an influx of ticket sales that is a clear indication of the momentum of this year’s international concert line-up. So, I urge all persons interested in tickets to get them early and avoid the rush. Jagdeo Construction will continue to support horseracing and by extension the Jumbo Jet Events.”
