Sean Kitt captures 1500m at AAU Club National Championships despite travel challenge

Kaieteur Sports – Sean Kitt, a 11-year-old athlete of Guyanese roots, continues to impress in the United States, winning a middle-distance event as his budding athletic journey continues to soar.
Participating in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Club National Championships scheduled for July 8 – 12, 2025 at Hodges Stadium, South U N F Drive, Jacksonville, FL, USA, Kitt stormed to victory in the 1500m race in dominant fashion.
Running for the Dashing Dons & Divas Club, Kitt, whose parents hail from Linden, clocked 5:05.85 to defeat Darrian Davis of Down South Xtreme Sports (5:07.34) and Donterius Dawkins of Charlotte Panthers Track (5:08.54) in dominant fashion from start to finish.
According to Kitt’s grandmother, Jacqueline White, Sean missed competing in the 800m on Tuesday because his flight was canceled for 2 consecutive days and they were not able to rebook. However, they were able to get on a connecting flight on AA intransitive to Miami, which had a layover for 3 hours at Miami and touchdown at Jacksonville, Florida at 1:30am, eventually getting to the hotel at 3:00am.
She noted that the youngster got 3 hours sleep and got to the track at 7am the next day. Despite being sleepy, he had to get on line to check his spikes and check in 45 minutes before his race. Overcoming his challenges, he produced the desired result, going out in front of the field and holding that advantage, turning on a sprint at the end to comfortably win in the end.
Other top finishers in the event were: Lincoln Wooden (Jackrabbit Track Georgia – 5:10.92), Suhas Gogireddy (Victory Track Club – 5:11.05), Alex Geisel (Hillsborough Harriers – 5:11.39) and Maximillian You (Bullseye Running – 5:11.86).
