Global Super League 2025…
Kaieteur Sports – Kyle Mayers chipped in with a solid 44* while Khaled Ahmed and Tabraiz Shamsi shared six wickets to hand Guyana Amazon Warriors a tough 8-run loss as the Rangpur Riders emerged winners of Thursday night’s opening round battle at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Taking first strike, Rangpur Riders did well to post a defendable score of 162-5 from their 20 overs. However the Warriors would make a mess of the chase, crashing out for 154 in 19.1 overs.
Opener Johnson Charles got himself going with 40 (5×4 2×6) while Mooeen Ali (27), Jewel Andrew (14), Sherfane Rutherford (19) and Shimron Hetmyer (13).
South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius (14), was also a victim of Khan who had swung the match back in the Riders favor with his brilliant second spell.
Veteran leg-spinner Tabraiz Shamshi (2-24) and medium-pacer Ahmed (4-36), kept their cools under pressure during the death stages of the match to bowl their team to a comeback win.
Earlier, a 49-run opening stand between Saif Hassan (18) and Bangladeshi all-rounder Soumya Sarkar who stroked 5 fours in his 35, was broken by left-arm spin wizard 44.
Top-scorer Kyle Mayers held down the number 3 spot, carrying his bat towards the end as he punched a 31-ball 44 with two sixes and three fours.
Mayers would however witness a double strike from the ageless leg-spinner Imran Tahir (2-21), who first knocked over the dangerous Afghan Azmatullah Omarzai (3) before trapping Yasir Ali LBW for a first ball duck.
With their top-order back in the pavilion and the middle/lower- order exposed while being held together by a well-set Mayers, a spirited last dash from captain Nurul Hasan and Iftikhar Ahmed helped the Riders muster some fight.
Ahmed clobbered 2 sixes and 2 fours in his cameo knock of 34 off 21 not out, while the skipper hit 18 off 10 with two fours and a maximum before falling to fast-bowler Shamar Springer (1-38), thus bringing the innings to an end.

By Sir Ronald Sanders (Kaieteur News) – When the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran was announced on 7th April, 2026, the immediate reaction across much of the world was relief.
