Kaieteur Sports – The United States of America (USA) made a huge statement after handing the Guyanese a thumping 7-wicket loss when action continued yesterday at the St. Paul’s Sports Complex Ground, St. Kitts.
Batting first, Guyana managed just 150 all out inside 45 overs despite some fighting contributions from all-rounder Romario Ramdehol (48) and Afraz Budhoo (43) with opener Rampersaud Ramnauth (22), the next best scorer.
The team of Suresh Bhatia (3-14) and Supransh Kumar (3-23) did majority of the damage with support coming from Shiv Shani (2-16), as USA churned out a brilliant bowling effort to keep Guyana grounded.
The chase ended in a quick fashion as the duo of Saharsh Shwethan (42*) and Utkarsh Srvistava (41) maintained their composure to see the USA boys to 151-3 in 32.5 overs.
A wicket each for skipper Johnny Van Lange (1-27) and Ramdehol (1-12) just barely scratched the surface of keeping Guyana in the hunt.
Guyana will be keen on turning their luck around when they play the Jamaicans on Tuesday from 10:00h when action in the third round continues.
