Kaieteur News- Dem boys seh social media is like fast food—quick, greasy, and gone in 60 seconds. But some people treating TikTok like it’s a Sunday sermon or a three-act play. Man and woman pressing “record” before dem brain even press “start”.
First thing yuh hear is, “Soooo… uhhh… I just want to say… ummm…” By that time, the viewer done swipe left, right, and centre. One chap start he video with a deep sigh, stare at the ceiling, scratch he head, drink a lil water, adjust he ring light, and THEN start to talk. Dem boys seh by that time the phone battery dead and so is public interest.
Social media ain’t Parliament—nobody waiting fuh yuh to “gather yuh thoughts.” TikTok is a battlefield. If yuh can’t deliver yuh message in the first ten seconds, go back to the drawing board—or better yet, write a letter to the editor like old people.
And then yuh got the overthinkers. One minute into the video and all they saying is, “The thing is, right? The thing is…” What thing? Spit it out before GT&T cut off the Wi-Fi!
Some of these slow-talking social media philosophers believe they giving TED Talk. But all they giving is sleep. You ever see a man start a rant and halfway in, forget what he vex about? Next thing yuh know, he talking ’bout plantain chips and how rain fall last week.
Dem boys seh if yuh don’t know what yuh come to say, do like yuh granny used to say—shut yuh mouth and wait till yuh sure. Social media is not therapy. If yuh confused, call a friend. Don’t subject de whole world to yuh hesitation, stuttering, and water breaks.
Moral of the story? Think before yuh talk. Plan before yuh post. And if yuh taking too long to find yuh point—just know, we already gone.
