(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys seh when yuh cyan get fuel, yuh suddenly remember all the places yuh didn’t really need to go. Georgetown traffic ease up. Not because government plan good, but because half the vehicles deh home dry like bush in August.
Now everybody talking ’bout “incoming shipment” and “sourcing alternative supply,” but dem boys seh that sound like when yuh belly empty and somebody telling yuh food coming “just now.” Just now does turn next week, and next week does turn story.
The real question is how we reach here? Fuel ain’t like rain. It don’t just run out one day without warning. Somebody supposed to be watching the levels like hawk watching chicken. Or is it that the tank run low, and everybody just say, “nah man, it gon’ stretch”?
Dem boys want know whether we had stockpile? Because serious country does keep reserve—three months, six months, something fuh when things tight. Or is it that we operating on faith and a prayer? If is so, then we need to start listing “hope” as an official energy source. And who minding the shop? Which office, which desk, which big chair does monitor how much fuel deh in national tank? Is like running a kitchen and nobody checking the gas cylinder till the pot halfway cook. Then everybody scrambling, blaming the stove.
Accountability is a funny word. Everybody like call it, but nobody like answer when it ring. If stockpile did running down, when did it start? Last week? Last month? Or since last year?
Dem boys seh if yuh running a system, yuh got to know before problem reach pump. Because when citizens lining up and cussing under hot sun, it ain’t logistics. It’s it’s failure with a long receipt.
But leh we keep calm. After all, we now discovering a new national exercise: pushing vehicle. Good for the heart, dem say. Just make sure yuh don’t run outta breath same time yuh run outta fuel.
Talk half. Leff half.
