-T&T Legions face Barbados Pelicans under lights
Kaieteur Sports- The Caribbean’s most anticipated T20 tournament, the Inaugural Breakout T20 League bowls off today with two huge games at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy Ground, with intense action set to showcase some of the West Indies’ future generation of stars.
The Infernos will be keen on seeing what their talented core of mixed weapons can do against a decent Guyana, with a string of stars the caliber of West Indies Test batsman and skipper Alick Athanaze, Shadrack Descarte, Shamar Springer, Teddy Bishop, Avinash Mahabirsingh, Ackeem Auguste to name a few, it will be interesting to see the XI which the Windwards look to field.
A few of the Guyana stars including captain Kemol Savory, Nial Smith, Ronaldo Alimohamed Kevin Sinclair, Ashmead Nedd, Kevlon Anderson and Richie Looknauth are fresh off a championship win following a successful regional 4-Day tournament.
Their current form should be a huge factor for Guyana given their leadership and commitment to the development of their younger mates, such as Riyad Latiff, Zynul Ramsammy and Isai Thorne who will be called upon to show their talents in this new format.
Today’s encounter is set to bowl off from 14:00h on neutral ground when they play at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, where both franchises will have to rely on their team tactics with the playing field only in favor of the home team, the Legions.
Drawing first blood will be a huge momentum boost for Guyana, especially with the tournament having only 17 games, thus minimizing the amount of matches each team will play. Game two in the double-header at Tarouba, bowls off from 19:00h and will see the Legions battling the Barbados Pelicans in what is expected to be a fire-cracker under lights.
Windward Islands Infernos: Darel Cyrus, Shadrack Descarte, Shamar Springer, Alick Athanaze, Dillon Douglas, Teddy Bishop, Ackeem Auguste, Ryshon Williams, Avinash Mahabirsingh, Johann Jeremiah, Kyron Phillips, Keon Gaston, Noelle Leo, Lee John
