New date: Milo/Massy U18 Football semifinals billed for tomorrow
Kaieteur Sports- After more than a week of rain-induced delays, the much-anticipated semi-final round of the Milo/Massy U18 Football Tournament is finally set. The Petra Organisation has announced that the semi-finals will take place tomorrow, April 24, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 PM.
2025 Milo/Massy U18 Football finalists to be decided this Thursday.
The tournament, which showcases the top secondary school football talent in the country, is now down to its final four teams. Defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation will go head-to-head with Waramuri Secondary in what promises to be an intense opening semifinal clash. Chase’s, led by the tournament’s top scorer and standout captain Bryan Wharton, has been in exceptional form throughout the competition. However, Waramuri, spearheaded by the determined duo of Erwin Booker and Orwin Abrams, will be aiming to hand the defending champs their first loss of the campaign.
In the second semi-final, Dolphin Secondary, known for their rock-solid defensive unit, will face a spirited West Ruimveldt Secondary side. West Ruimveldt has been one of the most consistent teams this season, led by Jeremiah Griffith; the team has been notching up several commanding victories. Dolphin equipped with talents such as Collin and Ezekiel Frank-David, alongside Jamol Williams, they are poised to give West Ruimveldt a stern test.
With $300,000 and the championship title on the line for the winners and cash prizes of $200,000, $100,000, and $75,000 for second to fourth place, respectively, each school is not only playing for glory, but for vital funds that will go toward school projects.
The tournament is proudly sponsored by Nestle Milo and Massy Distribution, with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, MVP Sports, and the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs. It is coordinated by the Petra Organisation and sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.
