-GFF Elite League Season VII weekend continues

Kaieteur Sports- The rumble of football action echoed once again at the National Training Centre over the weekend as Season VII of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League delivered four thrilling fixtures, showcasing a blend of raw talent and top-tier football. With goals galore and emphatic performances, Monedderlust FC, Guyana Police Force FC, Slingerz FC, and Santos FC each secured three points in what proved to be a weekend packed with drama and dominance.

Slingerz’ duo Kemar Beckford and Leo Lovell inspire 3-1 victory.

Saturday’s doubleheader saw Berbice’s Monedderlust FC steamroll newly promoted Mainstay Goldstar FC with a commanding 5-0 victory.

Mainstay, still searching for their first win of the season, were handed their fifth consecutive defeat in a one-sided encounter. Rayan Rose opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Jaden Thom added another on the stroke of halftime (45+1). The second half continued in the same vein with Tyrone Delph bagging a brace (60’, 67’) and Terrence Lewis netting in the 58th minute to complete the rout.

In the second fixture of the night, the Guyana Police Force flexed their muscles against Ann’s Grove United, in what was considered as an emphatic statement by the policemen, who eventually routed Ann’s Grove United FC 6-0 in a clinical display. Nicholas McArthur struck twice early (15’, 18’) before Ryan Hackett added a stoppage-time goal to close out the first half with a 3-0 lead. The Policemen continued to dominate after the break, with Daren Benjamin (72’) and Neron Barrow (78’, 90’) sealing a crushing win and three points.

The excitement shifted to Sunday, Slingerz FC impressed the crowd yet again with another well-executed win. Sunday’s fixture featured two clashes, one between Slingerz FC and Western Tigers FC, which eventually saw crowd favourites (Slingerz) securing their fourth win of the season via a confident 3-1 performance. Kemar Beckford starred with a brace, opening the scoring in the 11th minute and doubling the lead shortly after halftime (54’). Leo Lovell added a third in the 68th, effectively putting the match out of reach. Western Tigers pulled one back through Joshua Browne in stoppage time (90+5’), but it proved too little too late.

Meanwhile, in the final fixture of the weekend, Santos FC carved out a narrow 2-1 win over Den Amstel FC in a hotly contested affair. Den Amstel struck first via Deon Alfred in the 17th minute, but Akil Plass equalized just after the half-hour mark (31’) to reset the tone. With the match finely balanced, Shem James delivered the decisive blow in the 77th minute, earning Santos their second win of the campaign.
