Kaieteur Sports- Covent Garden Secondary emerged victorious in the 2025 Mike’s Pharmacy Inter-Secondary School Cricket Championship, defeating Tucville Secondary by six wickets at the National Cultural Centre’s Tarmac on Saturday.
A crucial 45-run partnership between Bryan Singh and Brandon Bryan sealed the win for Covent Garden. Singh played a stylish knock of 29, while Bryan contributed a composed 16 to guide their team to victory.
In the round-robin Tapeball Cricket final, Tucville Secondary batted first, managing 51-6 in their allotted overs. Covent Garden’s Ravin Singh led the bowling attack, claiming 2-19, while Naindranauth Ram chipped in with 2-28. Orklin Jordon and Jeremiah Jordan took a wicket each to keep Tucville under 60 runs.
Chasing 52 for victory, Covent Garden made quick work of the target in just 3.5 overs. Bryan Singh anchored the chase with a fluent knock, supported by Brandon Bryan as they reached 54-4 to secure the championship.
Naindranauth Ram was named Player of the Tournament for his all-round contributions. The competition was sponsored by Mike’s Pharmacy with support from Silvies General Store and coordinated by James “Uprising” Lewis under the Holy Family Bible Club Promotion.
Looking ahead, sponsors have already pledged an even bigger and better event for 2026, aiming to further support secondary school and grassroots cricket. The tournament also served as a tribute to the late Mr. Mike, a passionate supporter of cricket and youth development.
