Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Golf Association (GGA) and Nexgen Golf Academy held another successful fundraising activity for Breast Cancer Awareness over the weekend at the Scout Association Ground on Woolford Avenue.
Dozens of players turned up to support the annual event including Ministry of Education Priority Programme Golf coaches and several head teachers from various schools across the country from as far away as Leguan and Berbice.
Contributions were also made by Jon Shipley from the Texas Golf Association in support of the work being done by the Guyanese counterparts to support charitable programs in the country.

Some of the golfers pose following this past weekend’s Breast Cancer Awareness invitational tournament.
Over 25 coaches from the Ministry of Education Priority Programme, including the current Number 1 and 2 Men’s National Champions Avinash Persaud and Vishal ‘Butters’ Dhanai joined GGA president Aleem Hussain and LPGA Foundation Site Director Philip Haynes to show their support for Cancer Awareness.
Avinash captured hisc12th National title in honor of his stepfather who tragically lost his life on the very ground the tournament was played and was emotional about the events, “this is an especially important honor, because it was played with my stepdad in mind and I came from 4 shots down to win and make him and my family proud!”
In upcoming news, on November 11, GGA will join with Diane Inniss and Tomorrow’s Leaders to provide over 250 children from Orphanages from all over the country with a day of Sport, food, fun and games.
