Digicel Schools Football Championship 2023…
Kaieteur Sports – Santa Rosa have now acquired another title after they defeated Port Kaituma in Region One’s finale, while Mahaicony Technical Institute (MTI) won the Region Five finals of the 8th Digicel’s Schools Football Championship, yesterday.

At the Mabaruma Ground, the 2023 Milo Under-18 Champion, Santa Rosa, prevailed against the opposition, 2 – 1, to take bragging rights and qualify for the upcoming National Championships.
Santa Rosa’s captain, Ron VanSluytman, along with Rockwell Harris were the players responsible for their side’s triumph.
Port Kaituma defeated Hosororo 2 – 1 on sudden death penalty kicks on Thursday in the semifinal, following the 1 – 1 deadlock at regulation whistle.
In Region Five, it was all smiles for MTI as they dominated Belladrum to win 3 – 0 and secure a place in the National Championship. Odel Mingo and Jemo Williams were the eventual champion’s goal scorers in the showdown.
The other match of the day featured a Region Six semifinal between Tutorial and Berbice Educational Institute, which was won by the latter, 3 – 1.
In Thursday’s fixture, Charity became the Region 2 Champions after they defeated Abraham Zuil, 4 – 1, in the finale at Anna Regina.
Region Ten’s action also saw Mackenzie High needled Christianburg/Wismar to make it to the final, while Kwakwani sank Wisburg, 3 – 1, to become the other finalist.
In Region Six, New Amsterdam and Vryman’s Erven battled to a nil-all draw, which was decided on penalty kicks, that the latter won 4 – 1.
Georgetown’s only match of the day saw South Ruimveldt get past Brickdam, 2 – 1.
