Kaieteur Sports – As race day draws nearer for the much anticipate Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC), CARICOM Horse race meet, set for Monday 3rd July at the clubs entity, Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne Berbice. Sponsors and entries continue to pour in for what is expected to be a classical event.
So far close to 55 of the country’s top horses have taken entry.
The Delmur Company Limited and the Elcock Racing Stable are the latest to join the hoard of sponsors already on board for the marquee horse race meet.
With the KMTC known to host quality horserace meets more sponsors and horses are expected to climb on board for the event.
Six races are listed on the day’s programme which will have a whopping $4M in cash and trophies up for grabs.
The feature event is for the horses’ classified G3 non winners and lower. A fiery event is anticipated with the likes of American Traveler, Nuclear Fire, Memories, Amerceable Kate, Republican and Pocoyo among others looking to burn up the track. The winner will race away with $500,000 and trophy over 7 furlongs.
Horses running in the event classified J1 and lower over 6 furlongs has a pole positing taking of $300,000 and trophy.
The contest for the three years old maiden horses over 6 furlongs will see the winner taking home $250,000 and trophy.
The top animal in the event for Guyana Bred two years old horses competing over 5 furlongs will also run away with $250,000 and trophy.

The event for animals classified L class Open and the final race for J and L non-earners are both over 6 furlongs for similar pole position taking of $200,000 and trophy.
Other top entries include Top Rankin, Miss Olympic, GT Boss, Strom Town, Republican Too, War Time, Asome Banner, Amazing Grace, Quiet Warrior Harianna, Cash and Carry and War Time.
Outstanding performers will receive accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall and the organisers.
All two years old animals will be subjected to a vet check before they are allowed to race.
The day’s event will be conducted using the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
