Kaieteur News – An 18-year-old teen was on Saturday killed during a street brawl in Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown. Dead is Dequan Pyle, a labourer at Lot 4 Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt.
Reports are that after Pyle’s death, the home of the 30-year-old man accused of killing him was set ablaze.
According to police, Pyle reportedly intervened in a fight between his sisters and other women in the said community. After Pyle intervened, the women’s boyfriends joined the brawl and one of them allegedly lashed him to his head with a piece of wood.
Pyle fell to the ground and remained motionless.
The suspect then reportedly joined in stoning Pyle’s sisters with bottles and bricks before escaping.
Pyle was subsequently picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Hours later, the suspect’s house was allegedly set ablaze by unknown individuals.
