Kaieteur Sports – Action in the Regional Conference tournament of the ExxonMobil sponsored Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) organised event, with support from Edward B. Beharry, G-Boats GY, and the National Sports Commission, got off to a good start over the weekend.
On Friday, June 9th at Marian Academy Court Marian Academy scored 2pts to beat Charlestown Secondary who failed to reply (0pts) in a Female encounter.
Player of the Game was Princess Bond who recorded 2pts and 5 rebounds.
In a Male match-up, Marian Academy defeated Tutorial High 39pts to 18pts.
For the winners, Marion Fiedtkou had 16pts, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, Jaden Simon 13pts, 10 rebounds and Kaden Khan 10pts, 4rebounds, while for Tutorial, Michael Phillips 8pts, 5 rebounds and Yeeknahyah Yisrael 6 pts, 6 rebounds.
On Saturday, June 10th at Saints Stanislaus Court Queens College were bullish in scoring 51pts to run past SB Combined with 23pts.
For QC, Ezekiel Griffith shot 14pts and pulled down 10 rebounds, Owen Hooper 14pts, 3 assists, 6 rebounds and Francois Mayers 14pts, 5rebounds, 3 steals, while for SBC, Kadeem Beckles 9pts, 11 rebounds and Freddy Riicos 6 pts, 6 rebounds.
In the fourth game, Chase Academy beat St John’s College 35pts to 13pts. Chase was led by Anthony Vasconcellous 13pts and Jonathan Samuel and Paul Emmanuel 8pts each.
