Kaieteur News – An elderly woman on Friday told police that she sells cocaine and marijuana to take care of her ailing husband. The woman’s admission followed a drug bust at the woman’s Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home.
Police reportedly found drugs stashed in the woman’s kitchen during a search conducted at about 02:30h.
“…One bulky transparent plastic bag containing several small bulky silver foil wraps and several small white bulky paper parcels on a counter in her kitchen were found,” the Guyana Police Force said in a statement.
The ranks opened the packages and found that they contained marijuana and cocaine.
When asked about the illegal drugs found on her premises, the woman reportedly responded, “I selling da cocaine and weed fuh mind me sickly husband.”
Police arrested the woman and took her to the Leonora Police Station where the drugs were weighed.
According to police, the woman, said to be in her sixties, had 10.3 grams of cocaine and 28.6 grams of cannabis in her possession.
