Canada-based Guyanese and pugnacious left-handed opening batsman Imran Ali reeled off two successive centuries in two consecutive days representing Sunshine in the Ontario Round-Arm Softball Cricket Association 10-10 Adana Homes competition and the Regular Season 20-overs tournament.
On Saturday at the Robert Lee Public School ground, Brampton, Ali slammed 102 against Wildfiya in the final preliminary round match of knockout 10-10 tourney.
He pummeled 14 sixes and two fours in his 28-ball show as Sunshine amassed a respectable 167-3 from the 10-overs and then limited Wildfiya to 113-5 at the conclusion of the game.
On Sunday at the same facility, Ali waltzed his way to 102 again as Sunshine overwhelmed Enterprise by 82 runs in the 20-overs fixture.
For the 10-10 encounter, Ali got support from Anil Etwaroo and Ramiz Mohamed with 32 and 24 respectively. When Wildfiya batted, Ravi Bhim scored a fighting 54 while Gary Nelson made 25 not out. Hemnarine Chattergoon picked up two wickets for 17 runs from his allotted two overs.
For Sunday’s showdown, Ali clobbered 10 sixes and four fours and also featured in an entertaining 174-run second-wicket partnership with Chattergoon who hit an impressive 70 which contained 8 sixes and a four.
Dinesh Persaud and Amar Kisseur claimed two wickets each delivering for Enterprise.
In their turn at the crease, Seenarine Narine made 37 while Alvin Persaud (30), Kisseur (29) and Shazam Baksh (27) offered temporary resistance as their team only responded with 172 all out off 20-overs.
Ali returned with the ball to prove his all-round capability by churning out a terrific bowling performance too capturing four wickets for 23 runs from his four maximum overs. Skipper Anil Mahadeo supported him nicely with 3-27 off 3.4 overs and Chattergoon again in the wicket-column with 2-53 from four overs.
The 10-10 competition will resume on Saturday with the quarter-final actions while the semi-finals and final will be played the following day at the Hanover Public School ground, Brampton. The championship game is slated to commence at 13:00hrs.
The Regular Season will also continue on July 10th with a series of matches across the Peel Region Area.
