Kaieteur News – The semi-finals of the inaugural Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL) Over-40, 20-overs competition would be contested on Sunday. In the first game at Reliance Ground, Invaders Masters will tackle Sunrisers while in the second fixture Caribbean Sports Club will clash with Raven Sports Club.
In the final preliminary round match played on Sunday last at Affiance, Caribbean Sports Club beat Queenstown Tigers by a comfortable 38-run margin. Caribbean Sports Club raced to 150-9 from the 20 overs and then dismissed Queenstown Tigers for 112 in the 16th over.
Eshwar Singh led the way for the winner with a well-played 35. Motie Narine captured three wickets for 44 runs from his maximum four overs. When Queenstown Tigers batted, Narine returned with the bat to score 31.
Lukieram Bridgemohan produced an excellent bowling performance for Caribbean Sports Club by claiming three wickets for 17 runs off his four overs. In the other fixture, Sunrisers got the win over Ravens Sports Club owing to a protest. It was reported that Ravens Sports Club fielded an under-40 player.
