“Young entrepreneurs play a role of inspiration that you shouldn’t be afraid to pursue. Aspirations also show that you can carve a path of your own and not be hindered by doing what everyone else does.”

Kaieteur News – Three youngsters, who hail from New Amsterdam in the Ancient County of Berbice, decided to join forces to introduce an unfamiliar but yet refreshing beverage to the local market.
Just a few days ago, June 27 to be exact, 23-year-olds Josh Russell and Keron Lewis and 21-year-old Terrence Simpson launched their locally made coconut punch beverage under their brand “Indulge”.
In an interview with Kaieteur News, Russell said that the name of the brand was chosen because they consider their product a delicacy to really indulge in. As for the saying “teamwork makes the dream work,” the three decided to spearhead this legitimate business.
But what really prompted these young men to create this unique drink? Russell revealed that they were inspired by the idea of offering the public an exotic beverage that had never been introduced before. “A lot of times, we have the generic drinks and punches. We then thought what if we could switch the variety with something made from common ingredients but stands out because the combination is uncommon…” he related.
The 100 percent organic-made punch has been tantalising many a taste buds since the launch of the business, and this has seen others vigorously helping to promote it. According to Russell, their support base has been positive and strong from the moment they posted their promotional images; immediately orders began to come in. “People are rather curious, they wanna know the ingredients and what the secret is,” he shared.
Continuing down this path, the proprietors of Indulge hope to one day expand by adding more products to their catalogue.
Russell noted that although the business got off to a good start, at times getting the right proportions of ingredients to acquire the perfect mixture for the punch is a challenge. Not only that, but being able to distribute products to customers, who reside out of their community, has been a bit difficult, he noted.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted many small businesses countrywide, has not considerably impacted theirs since orders are placed continually.
Advocating for young people to chase after their dreams, Russell shared his belief that “young entrepreneurs play a role of inspiration that you shouldn’t be afraid to pursue. Aspirations also show that you can carve a path of your own and not be hindered by doing what everyone else does.”
In this regard, he thinks that what can be done locally to boost small businesses is to have the support of larger establishments. Another useful tactic, he said, is to be promoted and endorsed by notable public figures who can give the business even more recognition.
If you are desirous of “indulging”, the numbers to call are (592) 690-5158, 627-4646 or 686-2365.
