Kaieteur News – Two of the country’s leading commercial banks have adjusted their opening hours. Republic Bank Guyana Ltd. (RBGL) and the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) have announced new business hours starting this week and until further notice. Both banks will now be open for business from 8 am to 1 pm.
GBTI’s new business hours will take effect from today while Republic Bank’s adjusted opening hours kick in from tomorrow. The announcements were posted on the Facebook pages of the two banks.
In the case of GBTI, it was also announced that the Diamond and Parika branches will be closed on Wednesdays. However, its Diamond branch will open on Saturdays and its Parika branch on Sundays.
Republic Bank explained that the adjusted opening hours were instituted to help protect both its customers and staff in light of the threat posed by the pandemic. GBTI attributed its adjusted times to ensure maximum safety and preventative measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The new operating hours come in the wake of a record number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases and deaths.
