Kaieteur News – The Georgetown Domino Association (GDA) held its first executive meeting with the inclusion of team captains and a representative at its headquarters, Dynasty Sports Club on Saturday last.
The object of the meeting was to introduce the new executive that was elected the previous Sunday and to keep members up to speed of its plans for the next two years including the introduction of a code of conduct and the association’s mode of operation to ensure the organised and structured conduct of the sport.
President, Lyndon Boston officially introduced the new executive: Vice President Hazim Hakh, Secretary Ann Thompson, Treasurer Earl Mars, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Rodwell Phillips, Senior Organising Secretary Mark Wiltshire, Organising Secretaries Barbara Marshall and Chris Anthony Pasramen, Public Relations Officer Roderick Harry, Committee Members Andrea Mars, Dhyan Carter, Colin Boyce, William Orrin Boston and Erwin Chapman.
Vice President Hakh who is also Head of the Disciplinary Committee, in remarks pleaded for full cooperation and discipline at venues as it was seriously lacking overtime. Issues of concern were raised by the Captains and their representatives and they were dealt with by the executive. Expressions of satisfaction with the friendly interactions in dealing with the issues at hand were uttered.
Venues are to be issued a Certificate of Approval once they adhere to all guidelines set by the GDA. All organisers were asked to publish the dates of their competitions (diary of events) so that it can be perused and approved by the appointed committee.
Covid-19 measures must be implemented – Mr. Ali of All Seasons/All Seasons Angels Sports Club gave the undertaking to donate 50 packs of Covid-19 masks and 25 bottles of sanitisers in keeping with the guidelines set out by the National Covid-19 Task Force to play in a safe environment and to quell and eventually eliminate the spread of the virus.
Also attending the meeting was GDA immediate past President Colin McEwan, President of the Guyana National Domino Federation and Vice President of the World Council Domino Federation, Mrs. Faye Joseph.
Teams represented at the meeting were, FIB/Gangster, Turning Point, R&R/B13, F&H, Gold is Money, All Season/Angels, OPKO, Phantom, Players, Spartans, Lions, Mix-Up/TNT, C6, C7, Executives, 300/Strikers, Sius Warriors and Big Boss Girls.
