New Attorney-at-Law admitted to the Bar

Ms. Gina Jonel Macedo-Singh was admitted to practice law at the Bar of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, by the Honourable Chief-Justice Madame Roxane George-Wiltshire, SC, C.C.H. on Tuesday October 8, 2019.

Ms. Macedo-Singh is the daughter of local Attorney-at-Law Andrew M.F. Pollard, SC, and prominent businesswoman Mrs. Gigi Kay Pollard. She attended Mae’s Primary School, and then the Bishops’ High School before returning to Mae’s for her CXC examinations. After CXC, Ms. Macedo-Singh attended Florida State University in the U.S.A. where she read for several degrees in history (concentration in European and Caribbean History), Social Science (concentration in Public Administration) and Criminology (concentration in Criminal Justice Systems). She then enrolled in the L.L.B. Part I at the University of Guyana, and subsequently completed the L.L.B. Degree at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. Ms. Macedo-Singh graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad, two Saturdays ago. She joins the prominent commercial Chambers of Messrs. Hughes, Fields and Stoby, 62 Hadfield and Cross Streets, Georgetown.
Ms. Macedo-Singh’s Petition for admission to the Bar was presented by leading Attorney-at-Law Mr. C.A. Nigel Hughes, Esq. Mr. Hughes observed that it gave him personal satisfaction to see three generations of Attorneys-at-Law who are the offspring of eminent Attorneys-at-Law Mr. Clarence A.F. Hughes, SC, and Mr. Brynmor T.I. Pollard, SC, O.R., becoming members of the firm Hughes, Fields & Stoby. During her address to the young Attorney-at-Law, the Honourable Chief Justice admonished her to be studious, diligent, courteous to the Court and her fellow colleagues, and reassured her that with her pedigree, she was sure she would be successful in practice.
