Rupununi FA Champions League quarter finalists known; to kick off tomorrow
Following the completion of the preliminary rounds of the Fourth edition of the Rupununi Football Association (RFA) Male and Female Champions Leagues, the final 16 teams (quarter finalists) have been confirmed.
Rupununi Football Association club representatives who attended the drawing of the quarterfinals fixtures on Wednesday evening.
RFA President Ryan Farias has released the name of the respective top teams in the various clusters contested. Central – Guyana Rush Saints (male and female), Tabatinga FC (male) and Gladiators (female).
East Central – Flash FC (female), Jaguars (male), Kanuku Harpies (male and female). North – Paiwomak (male and female), Strikers FC (male and female). Deep South – Titans FC (male and female). South Central – Sun Parakeets (male and female).
The respective male and female draw for this stage of the league was conducted on Wednesday evening last; play will begin tomorrow while the league is anticipated to end on June 15.
The Sun Parakeets Sports Ground will host tomorrow’s double header which will feature a male clash between Sun Parakeets and Paiwomak from 13:00hrs while from 15:00hrs, a female match between Guyana Rush Saints and Sun Parakeets will take center stage.
On Sunday Strikers Sports Ground will host a female clash between Titans FC and Strikers FC from 13:00hrs while from 20:00hrs at the Wadapna Sports Ground, Tabatinga and Titans FC will square off in a male quarter final.
The RFA Leagues had kicked off in February this year with 24 clubs battling for supremacy. The Deep South and Central clusters had a playoff to determine the top male and female teams while South Pakaraimas moved to the quarter finals automatically being the only team.
The RFA also reported that Mahdia Goal Getters male team which was originally scheduled to compete could not have done so due to financial challenges. As a result, Kanuku Harpies male team replaced them.
