The National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) yesterday opened tenders for a range of projects, most notable the Reconstruction of Camp Street Prison.
This project attracted bids of in excess of hundreds of millions of dollars, with the Engineer’s Estimate being in excess of $300 million.
This reconstruction is in the wake of the Camp Street Prisons, being torched by prisoners in 2016 and then again in 2017, resulting in some prisoners being held at Lusignan and both prisons being somewhat over crowded.
Other notable projects were the Ministry of Communities Rehabilitation of the Kitty Phase 2, Bourda, La Penitence and East Ruimveldt Markets respectively and the Installation of Highway Lighting in Regions Two, Four and Ten.
