Bush Lot Rising Star Cricket club has reached the final Three of the historic Berbice Cricket Board/Perry Gossai 100 Balls Tournament for teams in the West Berbice Sub-Association. They defeated their village counterparts, Bush Lot United Cricket Club by seven wickets at the Bush Lot Ground in latest action.
Bush Lot United batting first in the 100 Balls game were bowled out for 89 off 94 Balls. A. Matabeek scored 25 and R. Hemraj 31 as none of the other batsmen passed six in a disappointing batting display. Offspinner Javed Saywack 4 for 07 and G. Grant 2 for 19 bowled well for Rising Star, while Glenroy Fraser, Kris Ramnarine and Navendra Mahadeo took a wicket apiece.
Rising Star raced to victory from 69 Balls as they ended on 90 for 3. Raunai Gransault hit an unbeaten 50 with five boundaries and three sixes, while Rolston Lindo 21 supported well. R. Kishun claimed all three wickets for Bush Lot United from four impressive overs.
Bush Lot Rising Star Cricket Club has now joined Cotton Tree Cricket Club and D’Edward Cricket Club in the final three stages of the Tournament. The three teams would now play each other on a Round Robin basis with the top two advancing to the Final. The Tournament has been sponsored by Arun Gossai and family in memory of Perry Gossai, who was an outstanding Attorney-at-Law. He also served as President of the Woodley Park Cricket Club and was a role model to youths in West Berbice.
