Bisnauth Mohamed, called ‘Ricky’, walked out of the High Court a free man yesterday after a 12-member mixed jury acquitted him of a rape charge. The allegation against him
had alleged that between September 1 and September 30, 2010, he engaged in sexual penetration with a five-year-old girl.
The verdict of the jury, which deliberated for close to two hours, was unanimous. Giving a word of advice, Justice Jo-Ann Barlow told Mohamed that he should see this as a blessing, an opportunity to stay on the right side of the law. The trial judge also urged him to keep his head in the right direction and away from trouble.
Mohamed was represented by Attorney-at-Law Maxwell McKay, while the case for the State was presented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave and Sarah Martin.
