Guyanese by birth, Delroy Tyrrell continues to show commendable improvements in his fledging swimming career in his adopted homeland of Trinidad and Tobago.
The young son of Guyanese Fitzroy and Jianna Tyrrell, Delroy achieved best times and continues his upward mobility in the recently concluded ASATT Invitational Swim Meet hosted by Marlins Swim Club, at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva, Trinidad. Delroy, trained by veteran coach and winner of the meet, Hazel Haynes, swam PBs in his favourite backstroke.
Swimming in his first year 15-17 age group, Delroy swam 29.81 in his 50m backstroke and followed this up with two silver medals in the 100M backstroke (1:03.94) and 200M (2:22.24).
The Tidal Wave Aquatics swimmer will now be eyeing a place on Trinidad and Tobago Carifta swim team for the 2019 Carifta Championships which will be held in Barbados in March. The Trinity College fifth former will need to balance his CXC examinations preparations and his training schedules.
Tidal Wave Aquatics won the meet.
