Today’s finals of the Diamond mineral water (DMW) Hockey International Hockey Festival could see last year’s men’s open winners Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) defending their title against losing finalists and Guyana’s reigning club champions, Pepsi Hikers.
In the first men’s open semifinal at 14:40hrs, QPCC will have a tough game against national runners up, Old Fort Hockey Club (OFHC) that have in their ranks a few overseas players. Hikers will play a familiar foe in Bounty Georgetown Cricket Club’s (GCC) men’s hockey team at 15:40hrs.

QPCC Joshua Vieira smashes home a penalty corner during their 6-0 group win over Old Fort last night at CASH.
On the distaff end, GBTI GCC will play Shandy Carib Magnolia of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) in the first women’s semifinal at 12:40hrs, while Ventures (T&T) will match skills with national champions Woodpecker Hikers at 13:40hrs.
After four days of entertaining hockey, the over-34 veteran division will see local teams GCC Vintage and Old Fort opening the day’s play at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) from 11:00hrs before QPCC come against their fellow T&T counterparts in Fatima.
The winners in the male and female divisions will cart off US$100 each, while the runners’ up will pocket US$500.
