Nicholas Hercules, 21, appeared at the High Court in Georgetown yesterday morning, where he pleaded not guilty to murdering his relative, Carlos Solomon.
According to information, Hercules and Solomon knew each other, since they resided at Lot 44 Princes Street, Georgetown. On the day in question, Solomon and Hercules were reportedly involved in an argument.
The situation spiraled out of control and Hercules allegedly pulled out a knife and dealt Solomon a stab to his armpit. An injured Solomon was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
It was reported that Hercules was nabbed at the Alberttown Police Station where he went to report the matter. However, police were forced to chase after him after he was informed of Solomon’s demise.
Yesterday, a 12-member mixed jury was empanelled to consider the evidence in the trial, which will commence today. Representing Hercules are Attorneys Hewley Griffith and Campton Bobb.
Prosecutors Lisa Cave and Orinthia Schmidt are presenting the State’s case.
