Just two days after washing ashore, the partly decomposed corpse of a male was yesterday identified by relatives at the Bailey’s Funeral Home.
It was confirmed to be that of Widprakash Adjitkumar Garib, 49, a mechanic of 201 Wanica, Suriname. The body was identified by his brother-in-law, Bhottoe Ravi Robert, 34, also a mechanic, sometime around 13:00 hrs. Reports are that the victim and six others ventured out on August 19 with a speedboat in the Suriname River. It was then that Widprakash Adjitkumar Garib fell overboard from the boat’s deck. They were reportedly on a fishing expedition.
Garib’s body was discovered by a fisherman Sunday at approximately 5:30 hrs. Police had at first suggested that the victim might be of Caucasian.
A post mortem examination is expected to be conducted today.
