Police set ganja farms ablaze in Berbice River
(Kaieteur News) – Two ganja farms located up the Berbice River were set ablaze by Police on Thursday.
Police said the farms destroyed were located at Friendship Sandhill Village and Wiruni Savannah.

The ganja found on the farms were reportedly worth over $2 million and the operation that led to their destruction took place between 05:00hrs and 20:50hrs.
“During the exercise at Friendship Sandhill Village, one field measuring approximately two acres was located, on which approximately ten thousand (10,000) suspected cannabis plants were discovered” Police said while adding “The plants ranged between two and four feet in height’.
The farm also contained a nursery with 4,140 cannabis seedlings.
Police further detailed, “At Wiruni Savannah, ranks discovered a drying camp measuring approximately 40 feet by 15 feet, containing a quantity of suspected dried cannabis leaves”.
No arrests were made as police continue its investigation to find out who might be the ganja farmers.
