According to a recent invitation for bids issued by the ministry, in addition to the building, government is seeking bids for the construction of NDC offices for Tuschen – Uitvlugt, Best-Klien Pouderoyen in Region Three, and Bloomfield-Whim in Region Six.

The Little Diamond- Herstelling building on the East Bank of Demerara which was destroyed by a fire.
It was reported that the fire which destroyed sections of the Little Diamond Council building also caused minor damage to the Providence Nursery School.
The local government ministry reported at the time that it was working closely with the relevant agencies to assess the damage and restore normal operations as quickly as possible while ensuring continued service to residents.
As reported in the media, in this year’s budget, the government had set aside some $550 million to construct 12 additional Local Democratic Organs (LDO) buildings.
Undertaking a similar project, the ministry in March turned the sod for a new $40 million Eccles/Ramsburg NDC Office. The construction of the modern NDC office follows the demolition of a dilapidated structure, which had long posed challenges to the effective functioning of the council. The new building is designed to provide a safe, efficient, and accessible environment for both staff and residents, the ministry explained.
During that sod turning ceremony, Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Priya Manickchand emphasised the government’s continued commitment to enhancing local government systems and ensuring that communities are equipped with the necessary resources to function effectively.
