With every intention of showcasing what they have to offer, a 10-member STEM Guyana team is gearing to head to Mexico to participate in the 2018 First Global Robotics Challenge. The event will be held at the Arena Ciudad De Mexico from August 15 – 18.
The STEM Guyana team will compete against 149 countries.
Throwing its support behind STEM Guyana – which has already been able to make an outstanding name for itself – is telephone giant, the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company [GTT]. In a statement, the company said that “GTT is proud to support STEM Guyana as they continue to do more to ensure the future of Guyana is moulded for success.”
Last year, a six-member STEM Guyana team was among 157 countries competing in the First Global Robotics Challenge, which was held in Washington D.C. There the team members were able to bring recognition to STEM Guyana by topping the charts during the first day of the competition. However, due to circumstances beyond its control, the Guyana team was only able to secure 10th place. What was however clear, was that the local team is a force to be reckoned with since it was able to outstrip competitors from far more developed countries, a feat that it is expected to surpassed this year.
