Rohan Auto Spares of Chelsea Park, Mahaica and Number 64 Village Corentyne, Berbice was the latest business entity to be saddled with the Kennard Memorial Turf Club’s (KMTC) Emancipation Day horserace meet, a timely gesture of support as the anticipated event is set to be run off tomorrow at Bush Lot, Corentyne in Berbice.
The sponsorship cheque was handed over to organiser of the event and Chairman of the KMTC, Cecil Kennard, at the company’s Mahaica Location. The former Justice, Cecil Kennard, spoke about the significance of sponsorship and expressed gratitude to the entity for its support.
Turfites and racing fans will be in for a treat come tomorrow as the country’s top horses and jockeys will come out and go all out for over $3million in cash and prizes. Kennard confirmed that over 60 horses have been entered for the one day meet, and the track is in fine condition despite some rain recently. The main event is the E1 & Lower animals which covers a distance of seven furlongs and carries a top prize of $600,000.
Meanwhile, the H1 and lower winner will speed away with $300,000, Guyana Bred three-year-old will attract a purse of $250,000, two years Guyana bred $200,000, J3 and Lower $160,000, L Open $140,000 and the L-Non Winner $120,000.
