Four persons, including a 25-year-old woman and two men accused of committing an armed robbery several weeks ago, were charged yesterday with the shooting death of phone card vendor Ron Mansfield at Westminster, West Bank Demerara.
They are expected to be arraigned before the Chief Magistrate today.
Mansfield was shot shortly before 21:00 hours on June 19, last.
His wife had indicated that she was watching television when she heard a gunshot.
She looked outside and saw her husband’s motorcycle lying on the road.
The woman had indicated that the shooter grabbed the haversack her husband was carrying. The haversack contained phone cards that Mansfield was selling, along with some cash.
According to police, two of the suspects will also be charged for an armed robbery committed on a businessman at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, several weeks ago.
Investigators said the two were positively identified as the perpetrators.
