The Guyana Squash Association 2018 Rainforest Waters Senior National Championships, sponsored by Banks DIH, got underway at the Georgetown Club last evening. A total 25 participants will compete throughout the week in the men’s, women’s and veterans categories.
The week promises to hold some entertaining games as the veterans take to the courts to prove that experience counts, and the champions of old show their expertise.
In the Women’s category returning Mary Fung A Fat will take on Ashley Khalil and Taylor Fernandes along with the up and coming younger players who are preparing for their Jamaica tour in July.
The men’s category will no doubt deliver some outstanding play with big names Richard Chin, Nyron Joseph, Alex Arjoon, Jason Ray Khalil and Regan Pollard facing each other as well as the ever improving Shomari Wiltshire; along with other upcoming younger players Gianni Carpenter and Samuel Ince-Carvalhal.
Play will run each night from 6pm, culminating on Sunday afternoon with the final matches and the usual fundraiser BBQ.
