Senior Magistrate Leron Daly yesterday dismissed a matter against a businessman who was accused
of swindling $10M from a man, by pretending he knew a woman who had a plot of land for sale.
Rajesh Sahadeo, 42, of Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, had denied that on September 7, at Georgetown, he conspired with another to obtain money by false pretence.
It was alleged that he obtained $10M by Republic Bank cheque from Lloyd Singh by pretending he knew a woman named Shaneann Boston, who was in a position to sell a plot of land at Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara.
Magistrate Daly dismissed the matter, citing that insufficient evidence was produced by Police Prosecutor Richard Harris. The trial was ongoing for over a year.
Sahadeo was represented throughout the trial by Attorney-at-law Glen Hanoman.
