23 contractors bid to construct new Dorothy Bailey Health Centre
(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Health has received 23 bids for the construction of Dorothy Bailey Health Centre in Georgetown.
The bids which were recently opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office revealed that contractors have bid between $160 million and $440 million to construct the health centre. No engineer’s estimate was provided for the project.
Kaieteur News reported that during the sod turning ceremony for the Campbellville Polyclinic in March last year, Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony announced the government’s plans to upgrade the Dorothy Bailey Health Centre.
“The Dorothy Bailey Health Centre is also being upgraded this year (2025) with the government allocating $55 million to improve the facility and ensure that patients receive the care they deserve in better conditions,” he said at the time.
The government, through the ministry, has been upgrading the facilities to ensure that patients receive the best health care.
Minister Anthony stated also that the construction and renovation of health centres are part of the government’s broader efforts to decentralise and expand healthcare services provided to Guyanese.
