GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association League action in the East Demerara Football Association (EBFA) got cracking again on Sunday afternoon at the Golden Grove ground after months of inactivity due to rain.
Points leaders Buxton wasted little time in getting back into the winning mode as they dispatched the challenge of Plaisance Panthers 5-0 on account of a brace of goals from Isaiah Anderson.
BV Triumph United jumped into the third place thanks to their big 3-0 win over the second placed Mahaica Determinators led by a double off the boot of the league’s second highest goal scorer, Omari Glasgow. It was Mahaica’s first loss of the league which is now in the second round.
Playing the feature match, BV were able to notch their sixth win of the competition and in the process downed one of the two front runners, Mahaica.
The win was dismissive as the Mahaica lads still showing signs of ring rust due to their long layoff and never got on to the score sheets.
Glasgow was on song in the 14th and 41st minute carrying his tally to 13 goals still five off from the leader, Kobe Durant of Buxton United. Tyrice Dennis took the game way beyond the reach of Mahaica when he blasted the nets three minutes after the break to seal the contest.
It was all Buxton United in the opening match of the second round; Plaisance Panthers were left wounded after absorbing five goals without being able to respond.
Isaiah Anderson tucked in one in each half, 10th and 70th, while there was one apiece for Temar Robertson (35), Joshua Liverpool (39) and Trevor Fiffee in the 75th minute.
