Digicel’s schools Football C/Ship… Chase destroy Hosororo 10-nil

Face Wismar/Christianburg in tomorrow’s semis…

The Region one fans flocked the Ministry of Education ground to support the Hosororo Secondary School, but by the time the final whistle was blown on a sun kissed day yesterday, they left the venue a disappointed bunch as Chase Academy mauled the visitor’s 10-nil in a dominant display which placed them in tomorrow’s semis.
It was expected to be a keenly contested affair since Hosororo, who had beaten Charity, became the first team from North West to reach a National Quarter Final after playing unbeaten in their zone, while Chase’s reputation as a goal scoring machine preceded them.
But although Hosororo focused on defence with the skilful Shem Ramacindo being the only striker employed up front, Nicholas McArthur put Chase ahead in the fifth minute when a powerful shot from inside the box beat custodian Kelvon Seecharran, who had plenty of work to do.
Ryan Hackett, who scored on either side of the break for his brace, fired one past Seecharran from the right flank to push the City School to a two goal lead in the 14th minute as Hosororo had difficulties adjusting to a strong head breeze and the best surface they had played on.
Dominating ball possession and with their strikers on the hunt, Chase were in attacking mode and Adrian Arrun, their team’s most prolific goal scorer, found the back of the net in the 19th minute to register his 8th goal of the tournament to leave the score 3-nil.
Kevin Padmore scored in the 27th minute, while Stephon Reynolds netted the first of his two goals in the 43rd as he joined Arrun with eight goals going into the semis and with five down.
Hosororo, known for their ‘Samba style’ of football, looked nervous and were never in the game.
Rondell Peters scored in the 69th minute and at half time the Region one institution were heading for a massive defeat despite some skillful play from Ramacindo, who fired twice from long range with either foot but failed to trouble Chase’s Sase Norville between the uprights.
From a position of 6-nil at the break, Chase would continue to dominate and scored four more goals with Hackett (73rd), Padmore (75th), Reynolds (81st) and Jeremy Garrick, who dribbled past two defenders to boot in his first goal in the 90th minute.
Chase Academy now face-off with Wismar/ Christianburg Secondary at the National Track & Field Centre at Lenora West Demerara in tomorrow’s National semi-finals.
