Dear Editor,
The Essequibo Branch of the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (I.D.C.E) in Region 2 is not functioning in the best interest of its students, who are made to suffer through no fault of their own. For no justifiable reason it was revealed that more than one year has elapsed after satisfying their financial obligations for graduation (already completed), but yet for all, they cannot be provided with their certificates. Being in possession of a certificate was considered to be ever so important especially when applying for a job and moreso it makes no sense to withhold it after strenuous studies to achieve something of value as an asset for life.
It was noted that the present ugly situation is also hampering enlistment for future courses with a question being asked; what will happen to present students now undertaking courses? A call was made for the relevant authorities to look into this matter and to bring about improvements within the educational facility; it is a vital service to the district.

(Kaieteur News) – The PPP Gov’t will give an arm and a leg to get the MV Barima off the front-pages.
