– Suriname dominate Superbike category
Watched by a large crowd, reigning champion Shawn Persaud produced another mind boggling performance to dominate the season opening Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) International Drag Meet which concluded yesterday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Persaud, who drives a Toyota Caldina ‘rocket’ blew away the competition including all the visiting Surinamese contingent had to offer, before doing the same against Mohamed’s Enterprise’s GTR Godzilla and Nizmo which was touted to be the stiffest opposition for the Caldina in the category.
However, that was not to be as Persaud, who started a little distance behind the GTR Godzilla and Nizmo quickly assumed the lead after the lights flashed and streaked away much to the delight of the thousands of fans present at the venue.
The Dutch brought some excellent looking machines, but were no match for the local drag ace.
They, however, carted off the Superbike title to go away with some consolation.
Kaieteur Sport will bring the full results in our next issue.
