Two men were yesterday remanded to prison after being jointly charged with murder, when they appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The men, Colwyn Johnson, 34, a mason by profession, of 145 East Ruimveldt and Joshua Meredith, 22, are accused of murdering Paul Rodney called ‘Schultz’ on November 21, last, at Avocado Place, East Ruimveldt.
The men were not required to plea to the indictable charge and were ordered to make their next court appearance on December 22 before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
According to reports, Rodney and the two accused had attended a dance at a school when an argument ensued between them and the 29-year-old man was shot dead.
According to the Police, an investigation revealed that the victim was gunned down by a group of men, who escaped on foot.
A mobile patrol was on Mandela Avenue and ranks heard several loud explosions and went to the scene, the ranks observed Rodney lying motionless, with blood all over his body.
He was immediately taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed while receiving treatment.
Several spent shells of a small calibre weapon were found at the scene.
Meanwhile, an additional charge was read to Joshua Meredith, which stated that on October 11, at Georgetown, he murdered Gregory Garraway, 25, of Charlestown. Garraway was shot while in the company of his brother, outside the Dynasty Sports Club, which is located at Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt.
According to reports, the incident occurred on October 11, last, around 02:00hrs.
Garraway was at the time crossing Aubrey Barker Road to make a purchase at a shop. A man confronted him and proceeded to relieve him of his chain, during which time a scuffle ensued and Garraway was shot in the chest which caused him to fall to the ground. He was then taken to the Balwant Singh Hospital and later transferred to the GPHC where he died.
