Kelvin Leitch blasted four fours and 15 sixes in a blazing unbeaten 128 and shared in an unfinished 205
fourth-wicket partnership with Kevin Leacock (48*) as Police gunned down Diplomats to register an emphatic 156-run victory at the Eve Leary ground on Sunday in a rain-hit GCA’s NBS 40-over second division cricket encounter.
Leitch and Leacock, who reached the boundary four times and cleared it once, helped the Lawmen to 239-4 from 25 overs before Vishal Jaigobin’s 4-14 from 4.3 overs and Steffon Harris 4-28 from five overs conspired to rout Diplomats for 83 in 20.3 overs.
Diplomats invited Police to bat in a game reduced to 25 overs and quickly justified their decision by launching an early ambush for the Cops to leave them on 34-4 in seven overs.
However, Leitch and Leacock came out with all guns blazing to stage some brutal reinforcements for the Policemen to stage ‘operation rebuild’ before Jaigobin and Harris provided excellent back-up with the ball. Leitch (1-13) lent support as the Diplomats were kept in shackles. (Sean Devers)
