– to provide additional services
International Auto giant Yokohama Trading, on Thursday officially launched its local office at Plantation Sophia, East Coast Demerara.
At the opening, representatives from Republic Bank and Scotiabank were on hand to assist potential customers with financing.
General Manager of the Guyana office, Deepak Balradj, speaking to Kaieteur News, said that customers who are normally cautious about buying certain brands of vehicles can now rest assured that the company will supply the necessary spare parts for their respective purchases.
He noted that the company aims at providing quality customer service and products. He pointed out that all vehicles are shipped directly from Japan and highlighted that the company has already sold 556 vehicles so far in Guyana without any negative feedback from customers. He added that it seems as though most people like the service and the deals that are offered by Yokohama.
Customers can purchase vehicles at the local Yokohama Trading office by way of cash, hire purchase or through the bank. The company does not charge any legal fees in their hire purchase options.
Balradj explained that “all vehicles come with three months warranty on the engine, transmission and air-conditioning. Anytime customers have problems with their vehicle and they need parts, they can come to us and we will provide the product for them. We want to introduce new types of vehicles that include brands such as Nissan, Honda, Suzuki, Toyota, Isuzu, Toyota, Mazda, GMC and others.”
The company is based in Suriname and plans to extend operations to Jamaica and Barbados, in addition to opening another outlet in Berbice.
The Yokohama Group of companies was established 1992, when some friends set up their own company in Paramaribo, Suriname, and Latin America, called Yokohama Trading N.V. They started out by importing used cars from Europe and over the years, the company expanded and moved to the importation of mainly Japanese vehicles.
The company grew rapidly and became a significant auto importer and distributer in Suriname.
The Yokohama Group of Companies has since expanded its business to Europe, Africa, Asia and further in Latin America.
