Dear Editor;
A reliable source disclosed that an Ogle based company had an aircraft that rammed off the airstrip at Eterbang on August 24. The aircraft was loaded with 5 and 1/2 drums of fuel. The legal load the aircraft can carry is 4 drums. The formula is as follows: 1 drum (420lbs) x 4 = 1680lbs. The aircraft is certified to carry 1500 lbs. so even 4 drums is over the max take off weight.
This aircraft had 5 and 1/2 which put it over by 800 lbs over the legal weight limit for takeoff. The aircraft had an even harder time getting airborne due to rain on the airstrip which made it even harder for it to become airborne. As a result the aircraft ran off the end of the runway, crashed and collapsed. The nose gear and wing damaged.
This practice has been common place by this aircraft. The pilot of the aircraft (name supplied) was the same pilot who crashed an aircraft 3 years ago while texting and taking off has also been flying with 5 and 1/2 drums.
This is not speculation it is factual. This is confirmed by sources on the ground at Eterbang. The owner of the company and the Guyana civil aviation authority knows about this and are covering it up. The director of aviation safety regulations has known about this practice along with the former director general and have not acted.
A certain big official in the aviation regulation sector didn’t act because he/she had a spouse who was and still is a pilot for one of the operators at ogle and thus was protecting the pilots in the industry.
This aircraft did not have any passengers or it could have been fatal. This is one of many cover-ups that have been going on in this industry along with mal-administration in the Guyana civil aviation authority.
