The efforts of the students of the University of Guyana Social Work
Class 2041-2016 in contributing towards the awareness of domestic violence through a Walk-A-Ton and Rally have not gone unnoticed.
At the inaugural Guyana Social Work Practitioners and Educators Conference held July 20-21, the Diploma in Social Work Class of 2014-2016 received an award for demonstrating leadership in advocating for the eradication of social ills within the Guyanese society.
This award was as a result of the Walk-A-Ton and Rally for the awareness of domestic violence held on June 25, 2016. The students are expressing gratitude to the University of Guyana Social Science Department, Ministry of Social Protection, Rent-A-Tent, NAMILCO, American Home Tile and Stone, Dyna’s Embroidery, IPA Group of Companies, King’s Jewellery World, Web Source Guyana, GUMDAC, Fas Gafix, Hot N Spicy Creole Corner, Humphrey’s Bakery, Kisskadee Intl. Couriers, Bacchus and Sons, Cevon’s Waste Management, Stereo Sonics, Sculpture Craft, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Civil Defence Commission and all participants who supported the Walk-A-Ton and Rally.
