Police in another fitness walk in Berbice in observance of 50th Independence celebration

Sticking to his word to take their community interaction programme to all parts of the division, Commander of the Police B Division, Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam once again led his ranks as they joined with members of the community to stage another fitness walk and exercise routine in Berbice.
This time the walk was held in the No2 subdivision (Lower and Upper Corentyne and Corentyne River. The Commander was accompanied by divisional officer in charge of the Subdivision Deputy Superintendent Marlon Taylor and other senior officers from all the subdivision in Berbice including the No1 subdivision, New Amsterdam, Canje, East and East Bank Berbice and the No3 subdivision (West Berbice).
Also on the exercise were ranks from the other divisions including the traffic department, Criminal Investigation Department, General Duty, Special Constabulary, Neighbourhood and Community Policing groups and members of the public.
Previously, successful walks were held in sub division number and three. The 3miles walk began at the junction of the Felix Austin Police College at Adventure, wended its way along the main Corentyne highway before ending at the Whim Police Station.
At the end of the walk the ranks were carried through their (exercise) calisthenics paces by Assistant Commissioner Amsterdam and other senior ranks.
The walks are primarily held in observance of the country’s continuing 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations and the GPF 177 anniversary celebrations. It was also done to keep the members of the force active and fit and also to continue the interaction with the general public.
